History of Castle
Château de la Perrière is one of the most important buildings built in the Maine-et-Loire regiou in the 17th century. This castle was classified a Historical Monument in 1983.
The building as seen today is the work of Francis II Goddes of Varennes (1643-1701). The latter completed in 1699 the expansion of the house that his father (1593-1680) had built in the course of the 17th century from older buildings. The Count of Saint Pol, the last occupant, remained in the place until 1989. In the park, an 18-hole golf course was created and inaugurated in 1988. The restoration of the castle lasted 26 years, from 1982 to 2008.
During the restoration works, under the aegis of architects of Historical Monuments, all the noble parts are rehabilitated identically to keep their character of authenticity (woodwork, pavements, tapestries, paintings, etc.). Almost all the work is done by companies in Maine-et-Loire, the main ones being specialized in heritage restoration. The building has undergone a rehabilitation of high quality. As such, the Ville d'Avrillé was decorated with Heritage Ribbons in 2009. Since 2008, Château de la Perrière has been dedicated to weddings, business seminars. and family events. The restaurant is open to the public.Reserve your stay
